»Teufelsstein« is a collection of 63 rural legends of devil's rocks, former pagan altar stones that can still be found across the European landscape. The stories, passed down from medieval times, see the devil throw the rocks at churches, drink and dance on top, or trap innocent folk inside of them. The compilation offers a view on the patterns of myth-making and the way in which Christian doctrine gave new meaning to the sacred sites of the
old world.
